White-coat ceremony honors 5th-grade students, aims to inspire medical careers

"So today kind of marked the end of 5th grade even though it's just the middle of the year for our 5th grade students, kind of demonstrating that they have been here with us, a lot of them since kindergarten, and they have learned all about the human body system and its functions. So today was kind of a day to give them hope and make them inspired to continue this in the future. We give them a white coat to symbolize how important their journey in elementary school was and how they have the hope of becoming something that they really wanna be in the future. I think it's really important because it shows them that they can achieve any dream that they want. I know that we bring in a lot of doctors and a lot of specialists, especially through BES, that give them a symbol of someone that they look like and someone that they wanna be," the school staff member said.
A student who participated said, "So I feel great about today's, white coat ceremony. It really feels joyful and happy that I am be able to make this make it this far in this future. It's just been a great day. I feel good, and it was a great experience because in the future, I wanted to be a doctor, so it's, like, preparing me for this. I think it's gonna help me when I, like, become older because I would already know, like, what to do because they already prepared me for what's gonna happen in the future." The student added, "So so I think it's gonna help me."
