The Red Oak Independent School District Board of Trustees approved two facilities contracts during its meeting: a $78,000 award for resurfacing the Loretto High School tennis courts and a $279,876.87 contract to repair the worst‑leaking portion of the Red Oak Middle School roof.
Director of maintenance and athletics staff told trustees the district’s tennis courts were about 15 years old, past the industry standard resurfacing interval of eight to 10 years, and that public players use four courts after hours. The administration recommended Protrek (Pro Track and Tennis) after receiving three proposals. Board members asked about water access and shade; staff confirmed water is available at the courts. The board voted to approve the Protrek contract by motion of Donna Knight, second by Brian Sebring; the motion passed 7‑0. The administration said the work would close the courts for approximately three to four weeks after the tennis season ends in mid‑April.
The board also approved a partial roof replacement for the middle school to fix chronic leaks that maintenance teams had repeatedly patched without long‑term success. The scope covers the section with the greatest impact on classrooms where the roof meets the tin roof arc; the work will carry a 20‑year warranty, the administration said. The motion to contract with Coriel Roofing and Construction Inc. for $279,876.87 (TIPS number 24060402) was made by Johnny Knight and seconded by John Anderson; trustees approved the contract 7‑0. Administration indicated work could begin within about a month and that contractors working on campus must complete district background checks before entering school grounds.
Both projects were presented as targeted repairs to maintain safe, usable facilities and to avoid larger future costs. The contracts will be executed under referenced board or cooperative contract numbers disclosed at the meeting.
