Fannin County commissioners approved a pre-claim agreement for a property adjacent to Clement Road (formerly Belgrade Avenue) to reconcile an apparent mismatch between historic right-of-way records and physical roadbed dimensions.
County Surveyor Shelley Bishop and staff described the situation: Clement Road carries a recorded 60-foot right-of-way (30 feet from centerline), but the existing paved surface is narrower — roughly a 16-foot paved width with additional shoulders — that does not use the full recorded width. The area in question adjoins a 0.26-acre tract owned jointly by Teresa Queen, Robins Cook and Junior Metals. Commissioners said returning unused right-of-way to the tax digest would restore taxable acreage for the owners.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the pre-claim agreement by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded.
The county surveyor will complete the record work to effect the agreement as directed by the board.
