Fannin County commissioners approve minutes, grant multiple variances and table one request

The Fannin County Board of Commissioners approved the minutes of the Jan. 14, 2025, regular meeting and voted on three building-variance items during their latest session.
The board approved the prior meeting minutes at the start of the regular agenda. The board then addressed three variance requests carried forward from previous meetings.
A variance petition from Miss Kaufman was brought forward but tabled after commissioners said staff had not completed an on-site visit and had not been able to reach the property owner for further information. Chairman Patterson said staff hoped to set a date for a site visit and suggested tabling the item; the motion to table carried by voice vote.
Two variance requests were approved. The board approved a request from Steven and Beth Cady to adjust a setback on Lenox Trace after staff measured from the road edge rather than the center line. Public comment for the Cady request was not recorded; the board moved and seconded the measure and approved it by voice vote.
A separate variance from Timothy Louise Stanton to build a garage 25 feet from the center of Turkey Ridge Road was also approved. Commissioners noted that Turkey Ridge is a single-lane road and that a 25-foot centerline setback would place the garage roughly 18–19 feet from the road edge; staff confirmed the site met the required clearances. The commissioners approved the motion by voice vote.
