Millersville Borough Council recorded a series of routine approvals Thursday, adopting the borough's December financial report and authorizing the sale of an aging borough vehicle, while confirming several committee appointments.
On a motion to accept the Dec. financial report and to authorize staff to satisfy ordinary and routine borough obligations, council members voted by voice and the chair declared the motion carried.
Appointments that emerged from committee and were approved by council included the reappointment of Daniel Ziegler to the vacancy board; the reappointment of Phil Laskowski to the Blue Rock Regional Fire Commission (term ending Dec. 31, 2026); and the reappointment of Lauren Dissinger to the Park Commission (term ending Dec. 31, 2027). All three were presented as committee recommendations and approved by voice vote.
Council also considered an appointment of Linda Belisle as the borough representative to the appointments committee of the Central Lancaster UCC Board of Appeals. During the roll call for that appointment a nay and an abstention were recorded; the motion was put to a vote by voice as the item had come out of committee. (The transcript records an affirmative voice response followed by a recorded "Nay" and an abstention by a council member; the meeting record did not include a separate roll-call tally in the audio.)
Council approved an out-of-committee request for a sewer connection at 58 South Duke Street. The property sits partly in the borough and partly in the township; council noted that Les, the borough sewer official, reported no problems with the requested connection and that the applicant would require a letter from the public utilities commission.
Finally, council approved a resolution authorizing sale of the borough's 1999 GMC Sierra crane/utility truck, to be offered through the municipal bidding platform (Municibid). The manager said the vehicle, because of age, is expected to yield modest proceeds (approximately $7,000 was suggested as a reasonable estimate).
Each of the items above was presented as committee business; several required no second because they came out of committee. Council indicated approval on each item by voice vote and the chair declared motions carried where stated.
Votes recorded in the meeting audio were by voice; individual roll-call tallies were not provided in the transcript for most measures.
