Council approves final design for Truist mosaic project

Mount Holly City Council voted to approve the final design for a Truist‑sponsored mosaic project at its Jan. 27 work session.
City staff presented a design described as the largest mosaic project to date for the city at about 100 square feet. The design incorporates elements of local history, staff said, and the Public Art Committee recommended approval. “This will be our largest mosaic project at about a 100 square feet and this is the design,” the presenter said.
City staff and the Public Art Committee told council the piece would be completed by the end of May and that the city and project team were working with Truist on approvals. No substantive objections were recorded during the presentation; councilmember discussion was brief and a motion to approve the design passed with a mover and a second.
The council did not discuss funding changes for the project during the meeting. Staff said they would answer follow‑up questions as needed and proceed with Truist’s approval process and project implementation.
