Board approves consent agenda and accepts two grants including $1.4 million mental-health award

The Natrona County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees unanimously approved the evening’s consent agenda and accepted two grants during its Feb. 3 meeting.
Trustees voted to approve standard consent items — including executive-session and general-session minutes, certified and classified personnel reports, district bills and two bids — by voice vote with unanimous support. The board also moved to accept a $3,298 grant from the National Archery in Schools program for Fort Casper Academy and a multi-year mental-health services grant from the Wyoming Department of Education worth more than $1.4 million over two years.
Superintendent Hensley presented the grants as action items and asked the board for a motion to accept them. A trustee moved and another seconded; the board voted unanimously to accept both grants.
The archery grant is for equipment for Fort Casper Academy; the mental-health grant was described by the superintendent as a two-year funding package from the Wyoming Department of Education to expand mental-health services in the district. Trustees had no substantive discussion before the unanimous votes.
The consent agenda also included two bids, one for supplies and another for casework at Paradise Valley; those were approved as part of the consent motion.
Trustees will consider other business at their next regular meeting on Feb. 10, 2025.
