The lower proposal, Columbia Engineering’s, was $55,200; staff also presented an estimated construction cost of about $172,000, which does not include potential land acquisition costs that may be required to complete improvements.
The council approved engaging Columbia Engineering at the $55,200 fee for design. Staff emphasized this engagement was for design only and that subsequent steps — including land acquisition if needed, construction bidding and budget amendments — would come back to the council for approval.
Council members asked clarifying questions about scope and next steps; staff said the proposals focused on stormwater and site-specific improvements and that further work orders would be brought forward if design determined acquisition was necessary.
