Wendell approves Brownfields task order to study West 4th Street block

The work will assess only commercial and light-industrial buildings on the block; staff said residential buildings would not be part of the environmental sampling described in the task order.
Cost and funding: The task order is budgeted as a not-to-exceed amount of $19,354 and is funded entirely by the town’s 2022 EPA Brownfield assessment grant, staff said.
Board action: A commissioner moved to approve Task Order 15 and authorize the town manager to sign. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
Context: Geosyntec has performed multiple brownfields assessment task orders under the town’s grant. Staff said this task order is a continuation of the West 4th Street block assessments, which staff view as a priority area for future downtown redevelopment.
