The Wendell Town Board authorized staff to negotiate and finalize a contract with W.C. Fry LLC to produce a Greenmount Cemetery master plan, a project staff described as part of the town’s strategic plan to evaluate the cemetery established in 1907.
Planning staff said the town issued a request for professional design services and received two proposals; an interdepartmental review team ranked W.C. Fry LLC first based on the submittals and price. Planning Director Jim Coats told the board the purpose of the cemetery master plan is to guide preservation, future development and maintenance of the nearly six-acre cemetery. He said $25,000 is budgeted in the FY25 planning budget for the project and that the contract would likely extend into FY26.
Board action: A commissioner moved to approve the rankings and authorize the town manager to negotiate and sign a contract with the top-ranked firm. The motion passed with all board members present voting in favor.
What the contract will cover: Staff said the scope will include historic-preservation guidance, identification of future improvements, and maintenance planning. After board authorization staff will complete contract negotiations, return the executed contract for administrative records, and begin the engagement process with the selected firm.
Ending: With the vote, staff may finalize an agreement and begin work with W.C. Fry LLC on the Greenmount Cemetery master plan.
