Commission seeks updated Exhibit A to resolve snowmobile access across airport property

Commission staff said the town’s existing Exhibit A— the document showing the parcels that make up airport property— is out of date and does not show recent or planned changes such as a runway extension. The FAA requires an up-to-date exhibit to determine whether local snowmobile routing that crosses or runs adjacent to airport land can be permitted within FAA footprint and safety constraints.
Commissioners asked the airport consultant and staff to convert the existing paper-era exhibit to a CAD file, incorporate the runway-extension geometry and local roads, and provide an updated exhibit to the FAA so the agency can respond on whether snowmobile access across or near the airport’s property footprint is acceptable. Members also discussed grooming and signage for any approved trails to reduce safety risks where trails approach runway ends and rocky outcrops.
No formal vote was recorded. Staff and the consultant said they would prepare cost estimates to produce a revised Exhibit A and return with that estimate and a draft exhibit ahead of runway-extension work.
