The East Bethel Housing and Redevelopment Authority voted Jan. 27 to reappoint its officers for 2025, name an official newspaper and adopt a resolution designating its bank depositories during a brief meeting dominated by routine organizational items.
The HRA reappointed Jim Smith as chairperson and Tim Miller as vice chairperson and selected Susanna (first name only in the record) to serve as secretary. The motion to keep Smith and Miller in their roles and to appoint Susanna as secretary passed without opposition after a motion and a second.
Staff presented the authority with two options for the HRA’s official newspaper, noting the city council had chosen the Isanti-Chisago County Star for 2025. Staff said the Star’s advertising rate would “start at $3 an inch” while the Anoka County Union-Herald’s rate was about $11 an inch. Commissioner Susanna moved to designate the Isanti-Chisago County Star as the HRA’s official newspaper; the motion passed on a voice vote.
The board also adopted Resolution 2025-03, designating First Bank & Trust and the 4M Fund as the official depositories for HRA funds. Staff said the depositories and the arrangement were the same as the previous year. A motion to approve Resolution 2025-03 passed unanimously.
Other routine business included approval of the Oct. 28, 2024 HRA minutes (the motion passed with one recorded abstention) and a motion to adopt the meeting agenda. The meeting closed after a motion and second to adjourn.
Votes at a glance: the record shows the agenda adoption and the appointments passed (voice votes with no opposition recorded); the minutes were approved with one abstention; the designation of the Isanti-Chisago County Star as the official newspaper and Resolution 2025-03 naming First Bank & Trust and the 4M Fund as depositories were adopted by the HRA.
