Juan Ramirez pleaded true to a violation of his deferred adjudication during a hearing in the 187th District Court. Judge Stephanie Boyd found the violation proven, accepted the parties’ agreed recommendation and sentenced Ramirez to three years in prison. The court ordered a $1,000 fine and credited him for time served, and records show Ramirez waived appeal rights as part of the agreement.
Ramirez acknowledged he was the individual placed on deferred adjudication in 2019 for evading arrest with a vehicle. During the hearing the court explained that pleading true could result in a prison sentence up to the statutory maximum; Ramirez confirmed he understood and proceeded with the plea.
The court asked and received confirmation that the plea agreement and waiver of appeal were knowingly and voluntarily made. The judge signed the judgment and directed that sentencing credit be applied for any time served; probation and court records will be updated to reflect the new sentence and fees.
Judge Boyd admonished Ramirez about making different choices moving forward and warned about the consequences of future reoffending. The court set no additional supervision or future reporting dates in open court at the sentencing.
