Board declines to approve two revised HR job descriptions; administrators warn of scheduling impacts

Superintendent Dr. Hibbs said the administration had prepared revisions quickly at the board’s request. He warned on the record that failure to approve item 5 in particular would leave the district without the staffing support initially planned and that administrators would need to “re-scramble” to produce an alternate plan. Dr. Hibbs said the change could affect schedules for more than 2,000 high-school students and require additional administrative work to finalize course assignments and supports.
Board members said some items may require further work or executive-session discussion because they touch on personnel or union-related issues; the board declined to take additional executive session at the end of the Jan. 9 meeting. Several board members requested clearer redlines and more time to review revised descriptions before a final vote.
The administration indicated it will return to a future work session with clarified job descriptions, strikeouts and the options the district will pursue now that items 4 and 5 did not pass. The public and board members pressed for clarity on roles, impact to student schedules and next steps; the board asked administration to propose a revised course of action.
