Council accepts three petitions for electric vehicle charging power, stop sign and Verizon service

The Springfield City Council unanimously accepted three routine public-works and utility petitions on Monday: an Eversource power petition for EV charging at 306 Pasco Road, a neighborhood petition to add stop signs on Granger Street, and a Verizon request to run service on Dwight Street.
Hector Velez described the first petition as a request from Eversource to install two utility poles on Pasco Road to provide power for two electric-vehicle chargers planned for a Best Pizza Place parking lot. The council called the roll and approved the petition.
The second petition, presented by Velez on behalf of the 16 Acres Neighborhood Association, asked the traffic commission to convert the intersection of Granger and Fair Furlong into a four-way stop by adding two signs; Councilor Klick Bruce urged colleagues to support the neighborhood request and the petition passed on roll-call vote.
Finally, Verizon asked to install fiber service to a building on 90 Karoo Street served from a manhole near Dwight and Karoo; Velez said the work was to provide service to that address. The council accepted the Verizon petition by roll call.
All three petitions were routine approvals with no opposition recorded during the hearing.
