Gurnee board adopts ordinance replacing one Class 1 liquor license with a Class 7 for Buena Beef

GURNEE, Ill. — The Gurnee Village Board on Jan. 27 adopted Ordinance 2025-02 to remove one Class 1 liquor license assigned to TGI Bridal at 6577 Grand Avenue and to add one Class 7 license for Buena Beef at 7360 Grand Avenue.
The ordinance amends section 6-56 of article 2 of chapter 6 of the Gurnee Municipal Code (Alcohol Beverages). Pat, a staff member, told trustees the change followed routine municipal-code review and police-department background checks to avoid application problems and to consolidate what otherwise would have required multiple code amendments. "So as you know, we try to get municipal code, ran through the police department, background process, to avoid application problems, including issuing the license," Pat said.
Trustees voted by roll call; Trustee Woodside, Trustee Ross, Trustee Garner, Trustee O'Brien, Trustee Baumas and Trustee Thorstenson each recorded aye, producing a 6-0 result and passage of the ordinance. The motion text presented to the board described the action as removing a Class 1 license (TGI Bridal, 6577 Grand Avenue) and adding a Class 7 license (Buena Beef, 7360 Grand Avenue) via an amendment to the municipal code.
No amendments or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes and the board moved on to public comment after the vote. The board recessed after the short business meeting for a five-minute break before the evening's state-of-the-village presentation.
