He said the 8th-grade open house was well attended, with both English- and Spanish-language presentations, and credited staff for in-person counselor meetings for incoming students. Will reported that during the first semester 1,136 unique students attended Den academic support a total of 3,957 times. "I want to thank the board for their continued support of DenTime, which academic support is a very important part of," he said.
Student board representatives highlighted accomplishments across arts, athletics and competitive activities. West Chicago Community High School students Millie Morozarco and Nick Riccardo were named ILMEA All-State selections and will perform at the All-State Festival Jan. 29–Feb. 1 in Peoria. Students also reported strong results in chess, robotics (hosting an FTC regional), math team and varsity athletics, and recognized senior Jasmine Chigaros for scoring her 2,000th career point in basketball.
The board heard that the WIGO 2030 strategic planning team continues retreats to craft a five- to ten-year vision and that Snowball, an anti-drug and alcohol prevention retreat, hosted more than 60 participants across seven student-leader groups.
