The Texas Senate adopted SR 54, a procedural resolution granting either house of the legislature permission to adjourn for more than three days during the period beginning Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, and ending Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025. Dean of the Senate Zafarini explained and moved adoption; the secretary called the roll. The Senate recorded 30 ayes and 0 nays and declared the resolution adopted.
Earlier in the day the Senate received a message from the Texas House reporting that the House had passed HCR 54 (Hunter), authorizing the legislature to adjourn for more than three days during a specified period. The secretary read the House message on the Senate floor before SR 54 was taken up.
The procedural measure was adopted by recorded vote (30–0) and will be entered into the Senate journal.
