At its meeting, the Santa Fe Springs Planning Commission elected Jay Sarno as chair and elected a vice chair by a 3-2 vote, approved the consent agenda without discussion, and set the February meeting date.
Joseph Flores nominated Jay Sarno for chair; the motion carried in a roll-call vote recorded as 5-0. Commissioners then nominated and voted for the vice chair position; Commissioner Jimenez won the vice chair seat by a 3-2 vote. Commissioners discussed the idea of adopting a rotation for officer positions, and staff said changing the rotation would require a bylaw amendment.
The commission approved consent items 1, 2 and 3 in a single motion. The roll-call vote on the consent calendar was 5-0. The commission secretary announced a 14-day appeal period for consent items. Staff also announced the townhome development by Malia Homes on Florence is complete. The commission set the next regular meeting for Feb. 11, 2025, at 6 p.m.
Commissioners exchanged brief New Year’s greetings and the meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
