Vice Chair Jevity moved to send House Bill 3051 back to the Speaker of the House for re-referral to the House Committee on Judiciary, and the committee approved the motion.
The committee opened a short work session specifically to re-refer HB 3051. “I move House Bill 3051 without recommendation, back to the Speaker of the House for rereferral to the House committee on judiciary,” Vice Chair Jevity said. Committee leadership then called the roll; several members responded in the affirmative and the Chair announced that the bill would be sent to the Speaker and on to the Judiciary Committee.
No substantive debate on the bill’s policy merits was recorded during the re-referral work session; the procedure was described as an administrative move to place the bill where “the committee that is, frankly doing more work on that topic... makes more sense for them to hear that bill.” The Chair closed the work session after the clerk completed the roll call vote.
The re-referral is a procedural step; no policy changes or orders were adopted during this brief session. The committee’s action simply forwarded HB 3051 to the Speaker for formal assignment to the House Judiciary Committee.
