Circuit clerk reports higher collections, open caseload stable; court tech grant pending

Circuit Clerk Greg reported to the Law and Justice Committee that collections for December were up and that case closures increased while open cases remained steady.
Greg told the committee that for the month of December the county and state received $273,425, agencies were paid $79,392, and that collections were up to $28,408 compared with the same month last year. He said cases filed decreased (1,209), cases closed increased (1,352), and open cases remained about 9,761. Orders of protection filed in December numbered 71.
Greg said there are two current openings in his office: his chief deputy retired and a long-term employee will retire this week. He introduced Lisonee Good as his new chief deputy and thanked Tracy Hancock for 30 years of service.
Greg said the office is waiting to hear on a court technology grant of approximately $204,000 and that the county had also applied for a disability grant (separate application) that was denied. He described efforts to expand the e‑citation system, saying Mendota, Grand Ridge and Marseilles had been invited to join; Ottawa, Peru, Oglesby and the sheriff’s office are already on the system.
Committee members approved Greg’s monthly report by voice vote during the meeting. Greg asked if anyone had questions; none were raised beyond staffing and grant-status queries.
