District presents annual assessment report; administration flags state reporting changes

Mr. Mysiak, the district assessment lead, presented the Germantown School District’s annual assessment report on Jan. 27, reviewing data from the 2023–24 school year and explaining how state reporting changes affect comparability.
Mysiak said that “23–24 can be thought of as a baseline given the changes that were made to the forward exam and those cut scores,” and walked the board through four key Forward exam areas: overall achievement, growth, target-group outcomes and on-track-to-graduation measures.
He summarized ACT trends, noting consistent composite performance over recent years and an increase in the share of students meeting ACT subject benchmarks. Mysiak also reported a sharp increase in Advanced Placement test participation and said 91.3% of AP exams in 2023–24 earned a passing score (3 or above).
On elementary measures, Mysiak explained the relationship between NWEA MAP projections and Forward exam outcomes and said that in many cases student growth has exceeded MAP predictions. He described two new state-required assessments in use this year: the AIMSweb Plus universal screener for grades 4K–3 and MAP Reading Fluency as the district’s diagnostic for students scoring below the 25th percentile on the screener.
Board members thanked staff for the overview and emphasized interest in future growth data. Ms. Higginbotham and other board members said they want cohort growth shown at the Teaching and Learning Committee next month so the district can track both students who need intervention and those at the high end of achievement.
