Councilman Dela Garza told the City Council Tuesday that the utility billing and finance departments will provide accommodations for residents affected by last week’s winter weather.
Residents whose water usage rose because of the freeze may contact the utility billing office to request an adjusted bill. The utility billing office is temporarily waiving connect and disconnect fees for water service related to plumbing repairs if residents complete repairs by Jan. 31. Residents with past‑due water bills originally due Jan. 10 will not be disconnected before Jan. 31; the city will waive the $25 nonpayment fee for customers who pay during that grace period.
On behalf of the Parks Department, staff invited the public to the Crossroads Heart & Stroke Walk at Riverside Park/Riverside Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 8 a.m. The American Heart Association is a host and top sponsor; the city said it increased its support for the event following the passing of former Mayor McCoy. The city also announced two public open houses on the Move Victoria 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan: Monday, Feb. 3, from 1:30–4:30 p.m., and Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 8 a.m.–noon at 700 Main Center, conference room 205; the plan is available online at victoriatx.gov/2050mtp and a hard copy will be available at the Development Services Office during business hours.
City staff also noted a new episode of the city podcast Town Talk featuring Lenny Yerenna, director of the Victoria Regional Airport, about the airport’s role in economic development; the episode is available at victoriatx.gov/towntalk.
These announcements were made during the meeting’s announcements and reminders portion; no formal council action was recorded for these notices.
