Dunn County CJCC wins $350,000 in grants to expand treatment court, fund opioid case manager

Sarah, a representative of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, told the Dunn County Judiciary and Law Committee that she submitted a budget resolution to the Committee on Administration to accept two grant awards. "We received $100,000 to enhance our treatment court and $250,000 to support law enforcement opioid abatement efforts, where we're going to look to hire a case manager for the sheriff's office," she said.
The grants were introduced to the Committee on Administration and "did pass," Sarah said; she added the adjustments will follow the county's budget-adjustment process. The $100,000 is designated for enhancements to the county's treatment court. The $250,000 is intended to support opioid-abatement work and fund a case manager position to be placed with the sheriff's office to coordinate those efforts.
The committee did not vote on the grants at the Judiciary and Law meeting; the report was presented for information. The committee approved its November 2024 minutes at the start of the session (Supervisor Gilbert moved; Supervisor Jetson seconded).
Committee members asked no further questions during the presentation. The CJCC representative said staff will continue the formal budget steps so the funds can be added to the county budget and expended per the grant terms.
