Union County Public Schools finance staff gave the committee an update on the district’s move to a new finance platform and said the district is in early testing and data-mapping stages with a targeted go-live of July 1.
Staff said the district is working with a software vendor identified in the meeting as Syllogist (referred to in the record as “Syllogist Ed”) and is migrating data from the current Munis and Sunpack platforms. The finance presenter said weekly project meetings include technology and HR teams and a vendor project manager; staff are setting up users and testing data imports.
Staff described ongoing technical work to map HR and payroll data, automation of workflows, and the need for a production API key from DPI to complete certain imports. A finance staff member said the district has assigned an internal staff member with payroll, benefits and accounting experience to act as the district project lead to coordinate deadlines and cross-functional meetings.
Committee members asked for brief, regular status reports. One member requested a one-page update for future meetings that summarises accomplishments, upcoming milestones, and any risks. The committee also asked about security in light of recent data breaches in other vendors; staff said the district’s technology lead (“Jay,” referenced in the meeting) is conducting security conversations with the vendor and assessing audit materials. The staff presenter reiterated the district’s sensitivity to personnel data and the need to ensure proper cloud security arrangements.
No formal committee action was taken beyond requesting ongoing status updates; staff will prepare a one-page status summary and continue weekly coordination with the vendor and internal teams.
