Committee reviews 2025 budget calendar; staff to bring draft in March

Finance staff presented a proposed 2025 budget calendar and told the committee she will bring a draft for committee review in March before the board acts in April.
“I'm in the process right now of meeting with departments and gathering budget requests,” the staff member said, outlining the annual process and planned meetings with the Board of County Commissioners and possible April work sessions. She said the superintendent’s budget will be submitted to the county on May 9.
The staff member told the committee she plans to hold ‘‘two-by-two’’ meetings with board members, especially the finance committee, to solicit feedback before the superintendent submits the budget. She said she will bring a draft calendar to the March meeting and seek approval at the April board meeting.
A motion to forward the calendar to the full board was made and seconded; the committee approved the referral by voice vote. The committee confirmed its next meeting is Feb. 25, 2025.
