Union County Public Schools finance committee members reviewed a packet of state funding amendments and agreed to send the changes to the full school board for formal approval.
The committee heard from a finance staff member that the packet contains multiple state funding revisions received since the district adopted its beginning budget. “You have in your packet amendments for state funding,” the staff member said. She said the revisions include additional funding for bonuses and other program changes and described the items as routine: “It’s just additional funding so far that we've gotten for bonuses or, you know, just changes in funding.”
Committee members clarified that the revisions represent funds the district has already received and are part of frequent updates from the state. The staff member said the district receives many such revisions annually: “We get about 70 revisions from the state a year. So this is through, like, revision maybe 50,” and that the packet reflects changes from the adopted beginning budget.
With no substantive questions raised, a committee member moved and a second was recorded to forward the budget amendments and transfers packet to the full board for action; the motion carried by voice vote.
The committee did not change policy or adopt final budget language; it referred the amendments to the full board for formal approval. The committee meets next on Feb. 25, 2025.
