The design team said FHWA “would like to see the pilot up for at least 4 seasons so that the town can get data and feedback on how the pilot kind of operates under different conditions,” and that the pilot’s findings will help inform the Boston Metropolitan Planning Organization’s regional planning work.
The pilot grant award amount discussed at the meeting was $320,000, with a required 20% local match. The team said that figure covered the pilot demonstration itself and is the cost they had anticipated for the temporary installation, not for a larger permanent reconstruction.
