The Committee on Appropriations approved the Board of Technical Professions' fee‑fund budgets for fiscal years 2025–2027 but removed a proposed social‑media consultant line in both FY2026 and FY2027.
Chairman Anderson presented the board's requests: FY2025 funding of about $853,390 with five FTEs was unchanged from the 2024 approved amount. The FY2026 request rose by $36,929, primarily for a proposed $30,000 social‑media consultant; the committee deleted that $30,000. For FY2027 the agency again requested social‑media consulting ($31,000) and licensing services; the committee deleted the social‑media consulting request for FY2027 as well.
Vice Chair Williams asked why a board of architects and engineers would contract for social‑media services; committee members said the agency did not provide a compelling justification for long‑term social media consulting and that the requested amount would increase fees for licensees. With that adjustment, the committee approved the Board of Technical Professions' recommendations by voice vote.
