City of Kiel approves hire of Sarah Preisner as deputy clerk-treasurer; start date set for Feb. 3

The City of Kiel on Monday approved an employment offer for Sarah Preisner as deputy clerk-treasurer, with a start date listed as Feb. 3, city officials said.

The personnel committee reviewed four candidates and recommended Preisner for her human-resources and payroll experience, including payroll work at H. E. Weber and benefit-management experience, the committee told the council during the meeting. Council members said Preisner had accepted the written offer included in the meeting packet and had signed it prior to the vote.

Council members moved and seconded approval of the offer and carried the motion by roll call. The motion to hire Preisner passed unanimously. The council recorded affirmative votes and announced the motion carried.

Preisner’s hiring was discussed in open session after the council determined a closed session was not necessary. Council members noted the personnel committee’s vetting and the candidate’s relevant payroll and HR experience as the primary reasons for recommendation.

The vote formally authorized the city to extend employment to Preisner under the terms included in the packet. The council did not identify any conditions attached to the offer during the public discussion.

The council moved on to other agenda items after confirming the hire and the candidate’s availability to begin work on the Feb. 3 date noted in the packet.
