Dr. Krager, the county health officer, said he had heard of the proposed bill but had not yet reviewed it and offered to look at materials the commenter provided. Regarding vaccine safety and efficacy, Krager said he has reviewed much of the COVID‑19 vaccine data and still considers the vaccines effective, though "less important than they used to be" because of lower current mortality from COVID‑19. Krager offered to review documents submitted to the board and to return with a prepared briefing or presentation.
Board members and staff clarified procedurally that Cowlitz County does not currently operate vaccine clinics and that county public-health clerical arrangements differ from those in other jurisdictions. The board did not take any formal action on the public comment during the meeting.
