CEO reports track construction start of railhead, Brightline discussions and industry forum plans

Chaudhry said the railhead construction and completed civil work packages allowed the authority to begin staging commodities such as ties, ballast and poles. He said staff intend to have a track‑builder under contract by the second quarter of 2026, with preparatory material deliveries starting in 2025.
Chaudhry also described ongoing discussions with Brightline and the High Desert Corridor agency about network interconnections that could allow trips from San Francisco to Las Vegas and to Los Angeles once systems are interconnected. He said staff are exploring environmental‑clearance coordination and opportunities to realize economies of scale for materials purchases.
Finally, Chaudhry noted an industry forum scheduled for Jan. 30–31 in Sacramento meant to engage suppliers and potential contractors on topics including raw material supply, public‑private partnership structures and procurement strategies. He said about 400 attendees had registered and that staff would accommodate additional participants where possible.
