Bangor City Council passed ordinance 25-039 on Jan. 13 to change the time of regular council meetings from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Council staff said the earlier start time is intended to make meetings more accessible and allow timely conclusion of business for residents who attend. The presenter noted the ordinance requires first and second readings and a 10-day delay after passage to become effective; staff said that if the procedural steps proceed without delay, the change could take effect at the Jan. 27 meeting.
During the discussion a councilor asked whether the manuscript contained a typo (asking if the change was to 7 a.m.), and staff confirmed the intended time is 7 p.m. The motion to pass the ordinance was moved and seconded; the roll-call vote was 7–0 in favor.
As an ordinance, 25-039 will follow the city's required reading and effective-date procedures before the new meeting time is implemented.
