The Liberty County Board of Commissioners approved a furniture contract worth $386,442.76 with V.I.P., a local furniture supplier, for furnishings for the county’s new health-department building.
County staff said seven firms submitted proposals for the package but only three met the procurement criteria; a scoring committee selected V.I.P. under a qualifications-based procurement model that considered factors beyond price. Staff said the contract amount is under the original furniture budget of $450,000.
Project schedule and scope: Staff told the board they expect furniture to be delivered and staged in March, timed to the anticipated preliminary completion of the building. County project staff said most brickwork and window framing will be complete within a few weeks and that no major snags were reported.
Chairman Lovett called for the vote after committee recommendation; commissioners approved the award by show of hands.
Ending: Staff said the vendor will deliver and store the furniture until the building is ready and will perform on-site installation and adjustments as needed.
