Planning commission recommends special-use permit for auto sales at 2050 E. Lincoln Hwy

The DeKalb Planning and Zoning Commission on Jan. 21, 2005 recommended the City Council approve a special-use permit allowing automobile sales at 2050 East Lincoln Highway, moving the request forward by a unanimous roll-call vote after hearing staff presentation and one neighbor comment.

Staff member Dan presented the proposal and said the applicant, Cyrillo Mendez, seeks permission to operate JW Auto Sales from a 1.15-acre site currently improved with a house and two detached garages. Dan said the property is zoned Light Commercial and that auto sales are a special use in that district; he also summarized a site plan showing a paved display area, a five-space customer parking lot (including one handicapped space) and a proposed detention basin, and noted the applicant intends to convert the house into a sales office. Dan said the applicant supplied a preliminary floor plan and that the work must meet ADA and building-code requirements before occupancy.
