At its Jan. 27 meeting the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals elected Leah York president and re‑elected (or confirmed) Kevin Ryder as vice president for the coming term and welcomed Christine Zicola as the Planning Commission representative. Leah York told the board it was a privilege to serve: "It's a privilege and honor anytime I'm asked to serve my city. I appreciate it," she said.
The board also voted to suspend its rules of procedure to address an error in legal advertisement: staff said an ad had been published in The Current Carmel when it should have run in The Current Zionsville; the ad was corrected and the board voted to suspend the rule so the docket could proceed.
Members moved to approve minutes and findings of fact from the prior meeting; the motion passed with one abstention. The meeting then proceeded to public hearings and the other agenda items.
The board confirmed its quorum at the start of the meeting and noted a new member had signed an oath prior to the session. Members present at roll call included Salim Najjar, Dennis Lockwood, Leah York, Kevin Ryder and Christine Zicola.
