The district has 60 days to complete the feasibility analysis; staff said they plan to present the study results and a recommendation, including a proposed implementation timeline, at the Feb. 24 board meeting. Board members asked about staffing transfer rounds; staff said implementing in the following school year would allow two transfer rounds for staff, while implementing this fall would allow one round.
Community-schools grant and coordinators: The superintendent said the district received a community-schools grant covering two junior highs and two elementary schools (Williams and Haycocks). The grant requires site-based coordinators; the board approved new community-schools coordinator positions in the personnel report. Coordinators will work closely with principals and community partners to oversee programs and partnerships at each site; sites will determine how best to use funds. Staff said Green and Blackstock already have wellness centers and Williams and Haycocks have counseling or wellness rooms; district staff will review existing site resources and determine how grant funds can expand or enhance services. The district will begin recruiting for the coordinator positions.
