Policy committee recommends three district policies for board second reading

"We're really just updating this policy to reflect the current guidelines for, cash management of federal programs," Dr. Bekos said while describing the changes to Policy 626. He told committee members the other two policies required no substantive changes but that Policy 827 had been updated based on recent audit findings.
The presentation included a multi-tab policy review worksheet that shows which policies were updated in prior years (including 2023-24 and 2022-23) and a master list of the district's policies. Dr. Bekos said the district will use that worksheet and recommendations from PSBA as guides for future updates and expects to bring "at least 4 to 5 policies" to future committee meetings for review.
Committee member Miss Hall asked that the policies be sent separately to school board directors who were not present for the committee meeting, saying, "I think that the policies should be sent separately to school board directors since there's no 1 here but me and you, and it is the second reading, and they will be approved." Dr. Bekos agreed to include the policies in the board update and confirmed they would be added to the agenda for directors who did not attend the committee meeting.
Dr. Bekos also encouraged greater attendance at policy committee meetings, saying the policies guide how the administration operates and that procedures are typically aligned to board policies. The committee did not record a formal vote during the meeting; the presenter asked the committee to add the three policies to the board agenda for second reading and approval.
The committee noted its next meeting is scheduled for Thursday in February at 6:30 p.m. (date not specified in the meeting transcript).
