Miss Parker urged the commission to revisit a January 2024 overtime payment for an employee identified in her remarks as “Miss Gaynor.” Parker said an email indicated the mayor had approved additional compensation and argued that a single elected official “does not have that authority” and that the matter should have been placed on the agenda for a public vote. She asked the commission to “go back and revisit and delete that amount,” saying the employee in question was salaried and that approving overtime in that manner was “fleecing of the taxpayers of Lynn Haven.”
A second commenter, identified in the transcript as Mr. Walker, responded to an earlier commission remark about his vision. Walker described his U.S. Navy service and multiple agency medical certifications, saying his vision is current and that the previous suggestion he seek an optometrist was “facetious.” He also repeated a claim that “one and a half commissioners” were working for citizens, and said he was prepared to share medical records if requested.
The commission did not take action on either public comment at the meeting. Commissioner Peebles and others referred to the earlier agenda handling as having been discussed and recorded in previous minutes; Peebles invited further public questions and offered to talk with residents individually.
