Chase Randall gave a suite of operational updates to the Tooele City Library Board on Jan. 23.
Randall said a new boiler has been installed and is operational; he estimated it will save about $10,000 a year in natural gas and said the new unit has an expected life of roughly 30 years. The staff entrance canopy replacement is scheduled to begin in February, and contractors have already started work on a stamped‑concrete front pad that will include a picnic table base and space for public art; Randall said the front work should be finished by May.
Randall said he plans to xeriscape the front park strip by July to match city hall landscaping. He reported that staffing is full with no recent turnovers. He also noted the library already circulates telescopes and that those items remain available to check out.
On programming, Randall highlighted a blood drive scheduled for Feb. 18 and described a recent "Stuffed Animal Sleepover" program for children that the teen advisory council organized; he encouraged the board to view the library's event video on Facebook.
