El Paso County Commissioners Court on Monday approved a series of ceremonial resolutions recognizing community organizations, individuals and awareness months.
The court unanimously adopted a resolution declaring January 2025 as Human Trafficking Prevention Month in El Paso County after a presentation by Paso del Norte Center of Hope. The court also approved proclamations recognizing local artist Crystal Poppin, the Women's Fund of El Paso, Lieutenant Marvin U. Ryals, National Girls and Women in Sports Day, a long‑running regional television station, and the newly installed Women's Council of Realtors El Paso del Norte board.
Paso del Norte Center of Hope staff described local coalition work and a rise in youth victims, and asked the public to use the national hotline (1‑888‑373‑7888) to report tips. Court members praised the center's coalition-building and adopted the proclamation. The read resolution notes the center “is the lead facilitator for local El Paso anti‑human trafficking coalition with over 45 local partners.”
Most of the recognitions were presented with brief remarks from community representatives and short statements by commissioners. Formal votes were recorded on the consent calendar or immediately following each reading; each motion carried. The resolutions are ceremonial and do not create binding policy or new county obligations.
