The Homewood Special Issues Committee on Jan. 27 approved a facility-use agreement allowing the Homewood Chamber of Commerce to hold the Taste of Homewood event on the city plaza and accepted the city's 2023'124 annual stormwater report, voting 5-0 on both items.
The chamber's request covers use of the plaza for Taste of Homewood, an event attendees and organizers said has been held for about 22 years. Shay Gartman, representing the Homewood Chamber of Commerce, told the committee the event is scheduled for March 13. "March 13th," Gartman said. Committee members said the chamber provided required insurance information and other paperwork needed to finalize the facility-use agreement. Councilor Smith moved to approve the request; Councilor Aleman seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
Committee members also accepted the city's 2023'124 annual stormwater report, which the committee said is prepared by the county health department with input from city staff. The report must be submitted to the state environmental agency within two days of the meeting; committee members said staff needed an approval signature quickly to meet that deadline. Councilor Smith moved to accept the report; Councilor Andrews seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
Earlier in the meeting the committee approved minutes from its Jan. 6 meeting by unanimous vote. With no additional old or new business, the Special Issues Committee adjourned.
