Board approves consent agenda, moves into closed executive session; adjourns after closed session

The Los Alamos Public Schools Board approved its routine consent and business agenda by roll call and later voted to convene a closed executive session under the New Mexico Open Meetings Act before adjourning the meeting.

Vice President Wyman moved "the school board approves the consent agenda," and the board took a roll call. President Colgan, Vice President Wyman, Secretary Copeland, Board Member Spector and Board Member Adams all voted "yes." "Motion carries," the chair said.

Later in the meeting the board moved to enter a closed executive session. The motion referenced statutory provisions of the New Mexico Open Meetings Act (NMSA 1978) for limited personnel matters, superintendent performance evaluation and pending legal matters, and to discuss union negotiations. President Colgan moved the executive session; Miss Bell called the roll and each listed board member attending in person voted yes to enter the closed session. The board recorded that members attending virtually would not join the closed session in person.

After the closed session the board returned to open session and the president stated that the purpose of the closed session was limited to the items on the agenda and that no action was taken during the closed session. A motion to adjourn was then made and approved by voice vote.

Actions recorded in the meeting minutes matched the roll calls: approval of the consent agenda and approval to convene the closed executive session. No formal decisions or votes on personnel, legal or negotiation outcomes were reported after the closed session; the board explicitly stated no action was taken in closed session.
