The plan proposes a refreshed mission: “to design engaging and intellectually demanding work that empowers all learners to define their talents, exercise effective collaboration, practice skillful communication, and develop their critical thinking skills in order to lead them to success.” The superintendent said the committee also developed a short, memorable vision: students “prepared to contribute and prepared to succeed.”
The committee, which included administrators, teachers and community members, prioritized system‑wide alignment of special‑education, ESL and student services; research‑based interventions for K–12; broad professional learning in instructional design and engagement; and implementation of Pennsylvania’s new STEEL standards for science and related fields. The plan also calls for rolling out a data warehouse to give teachers a single place to view student scores and histories to speed instructional planning.
The administration said the plan will be posted for public review prior to final board action and submitted to the state by the March deadline, with an earlier target of February where practical. A one‑page executive summary is available on the district website.
