Staff said payments to a construction vendor (FPC) relate to the Matanzas softball complex work — dugouts, concession stand and field improvements — and that the purchase order for that work had been approved months earlier; the vendor payments are disbursements against that approved PO.
Payments to Barbizon Charlotte were described as technology purchases funded from the sales-tax fund for touch‑screen monitors tied to Matanzas expansion work. Separately, staff identified a Syntegix contract payment of about $53,000 as an annual scheduled payment under a five‑year contract approved in 2023; that contract covers equipment and support for the district’s alert/communication system.
Board members asked about a payment to Morgan & Morgan; staff said that payment was part of a settlement related to a former employee’s legal claim and that a portion of the payout went to the employee while a portion paid legal fees. Staff declined to discuss further settlement details in the workshop and indicated some matters may be discussed in executive session.
Board members also asked about some vendor entries that appeared to be payroll deductions or employee benefits and staff explained that certain line items reflect employee payroll deductions rather than vendor services.
