Village staff provided a strategic-plan update to the board on Jan. 27 that summarized outcomes for 2024 and outlined priorities for 2025, including a shift in internal project-reporting software.
The assistant administrator reported $4,160,000 in grants awarded to the village in the prior year and highlighted redevelopment activity: Firewater Barbecue had submitted materials for the upcoming planning-and-zoning meeting and Lexington submitted initial plans for a townhome development at the village-owned parcel at I-390 and Roselle Road.
Staff noted that Public Works completed 2024 construction programs and that design work continues for the treatment-plant expansion. The assistant administrator said asset management will be reassessed for the next budget process.
On staffing and operations, the village completed onboarding a new HR generalist and a new IT manager, reduced full-time vacancies to four across the organization and consolidated three initiatives into a single succession-planning and training effort tied to the approved performance-evaluation project. Staff reported processing hundreds of building permits through new cloud-based permitting software and about 200 FOIA requests through a new FOIA system.
The assistant administrator told the board the village will discontinue the Enviso public-facing strategic dashboard in its current form and use monday.com for internal reporting because of budget and staff-effort considerations; staff will explore alternate public-facing dashboard options before midyear.
Board members discussed the tradeoffs of dashboard features versus staff time, and staff said the change is expected to reduce manual reporting labor while preserving accountability for strategic initiatives.
Staff will return with proposed public-facing dashboard options and integrate monday.com into internal tracking during the budget year.
