Police and Lake Park School District agreement updated for ongoing information sharing

The Roselle Police Department asked the Village Board on Jan. 27 to approve an updated intergovernmental agreement with Lake Park High School District 108 to clarify information-sharing practices between the two agencies.
Chief of Police Roberto Ferreto summarized the proposed update, stating: "Basically, this is an intergovernmental agreement which, we signed back in 2006 with Lake Park, which is District 108, which allows for us to, do information sharing between the school and the police department." He said the updated agreement accounts for changes in personnel since 2006 and would remain in effect in perpetuity unless either party provides 30 days’ notice to terminate.
Ferreto said the agreement covers sharing information on students who are involved in criminal activity and noted the department and district already coordinate through school resource officers at each campus. The chief told the board the revision is intended to modernize the agreement and allow continued operational coordination.
A trustee asked whether the board could proceed; the chief requested the board’s approval to move forward.
No formal objections or suggested changes were recorded on the meeting record; the board indicated that approving the updated agreement "makes perfect sense," and staff was authorized to finalize the updated intergovernmental agreement.
