Hilliard City Council on Jan. 27 recorded several formal actions during its regular meeting.
The council passed Resolution 25R04 to appoint Jay Dice, president of 4C Power North America, to the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) Board of Trustees for a three-year term beginning in April. Council member Cynthia Vermillion spoke in support, citing Dice’s corporate residency in Hilliard and his experience supplying electric batteries for transit buses. The roll-call vote was 5-0 in favor; the resolution takes effect at the earliest date allowed by law.
By unanimous roll call, council approved Resolution 25R08 to purchase three replacement police vehicles through a piggyback contract, at $47,756 each for a total of $143,268. Staff said upfitting is not included in that figure and will be contracted separately; the department is moving toward hybrid vehicles to reduce idle fuel consumption and support continuous power for onboard electronics.
The council approved the consent agenda item 25R03, accepting the dedication of roads and easements for public and private utilities, cable television service connections and stormwater drainage for Section 1, Phase 4 of the Alton Place development. That consent-item approval was made by voice vote; individual roll-call votes were not recorded in the transcript.
Finally, council considered Resolution 25R07, a requested amendment to the Mill Run PUD at 3311–3315 Mill Meadows Drive. Applicant counsel Mike Shannon asked to postpone the item due to a scheduling issue with the applicants; council voted 5-0 to postpone the matter to the Feb. 10, 2025 council meeting.
