The Franklin Public Library Board unanimously approved the 2025–2029 strategic plan at its Jan. 27 meeting, endorsing the mission statement, four high-level focus areas and a year-one action plan.
Trustees reviewed the plan’s high-level focus areas — community focus, communication, library services, and facility and operational alignment — and discussed specific year‑one activities. Carrie and Jennifer led a revision of the action plan after a strategic-planning retreat; board members said some previously listed items were moved, removed when already completed, or reframed as ongoing operations.
The board approved the overarching mission and the detailed year-one action plan, and requested quarterly updates on progress. The action plan additions cited at the meeting included creating calls to action and community connections and building an operational wish list to guide implementation and fundraising.
Trustees said the plan should be ambitious but realistic and noted the board will use the action plan to focus annual work. Jennifer said staff will track progress and return with quarterly status updates.
