A separate correspondence from a sender identified as Wynn raised detailed objections to increased tournament costs, saying organizers could not absorb all new fees and could accept only a $50 surcharge. Wynn wrote that many golfers already paid roughly $109 and that adding a $15 per-golfer charge would raise costs by more than $2,000 for a full field. Wynn also noted the tournament provides a morning breakfast and that asking participants to pay again for a post-tournament meal was impractical, and urged the commission to consider alternatives such as hosting post-tournament banquets on site.
Commissioners discussed possible enforcement options — such as banning coolers at events to encourage purchases on-site — and the practical limits of such rules. Commissioner John (first reference: John, commission member) and others said any concession or exception would have to be applied to all tournaments uniformly. Commissioner Todd was identified as a person the commission planned to contact about whether he could provide breakfast on site to reduce perceived duplication of costs.
Commission members also noted the potential competitive effect on youth and outside groups: Manny (first reference: Manny, commission member) was expected to be contacted about U.S. Kids tournaments, and some commissioners said higher fees might discourage returns from groups that bring younger players.
The commission directed staff to communicate with the tournament organizers and with Todd about breakfast options; any change would be applied equally to all tournaments. No formal motion or vote on fee changes was recorded during the meeting.
